ALL-IN
To move all your chips into the pot for a single hand.
BIG SLICK
When you're dealt an ace and a king.
BLIND
A form of ante, or required opening bet, that's put in by one or more players at the beginning of each hand before any cards are dealt.
THE BOARD
The five community cards, shared by all the players in a hand of Texas hold'em.
CALL
To stay in the game by throwing the amount of money that's just been bet by another player into the pot.
DEAD MAN'S HAND
A hand that includes a pair of aces and a pair of eights. It was the hand Wild Bill Hickok had when he was murdered.
DOUBLING UP
Doubling your money in a single hand, usually achieved by going "all-in" and winning.
FLOP
In hold'em, the first "community," or shared, cards, which are dealt simultaneously and face-up, to be used by all the players.
HOLE CARDS
The cards dealt face-down to each individual player. Sometimes called pocket cards.
NO-LIMIT
A version of poker in which players may bet any or all of their chips whenever it is their turn to act.
POCKET ROCKETS
A pair of aces dealt face-down.
POT LIMIT
A version of poker in which no bet can exceed the amount of money in the pot at the time.
RIVER
The fifth and last face-up card dealt in a hand of hold'em. Also known as fifth street.
SHOWDOWN
The final act, when all the players reveal their hands to determine who wins.
SUITED
When a player's two face-down cards are of the same suit.
TURN
The fourth face-up card in hold'em. Also knows as fourth street.
